All good things…

All good things must come to an end.
Traditional proverb

With my daughter’s help, I’ve been publishing Lessons in Life for a little over twenty years. I did the easy part: I wrote the first draft. She did the hard work of editing and publishing the Lessons. She was the one primarily responsible for getting things done.

Sharing these little essays has been very rewarding. As a result of my newsletter, I’ve communicated with and gotten to know many people from around the world. But the biggest benefit was the lessons I learned and gradually internalized. It turns out that I benefited more from the lessons than any reader.

Still, we’ve changed over these last twenty years. Our lives are very different now and we no longer have the time or energy required to continue sending out messages twice a month. And so we’re signing off, with thanks to all the dedicated readers who have followed us over the years.

For the current moment and the foreseeable future, we’ll maintain the website where you can read past Lessons. The site address is www.teachthesoul.com.

I’ve combined a collection of Lessons into a book titled Words to Live and Work By. It’s available on Amazon. I plan to put together a second volume with additional lessons and will let you know when it’s ready.

Thanks again for being a devoted reader. I’ll leave you with one of my daughter’s favorite expressions: “Be curious, not judgmental” – an anonymous sentiment often mistakenly attributed to Walt Whitman. If we all followed that simple advice, the world would surely be a kinder place.

And in the end, what’s more important, being right or being kind?
